Gin & Brin Awards

Every year as part of the festival, we also carry out professional ratings of gins and Brinjevec – juniper brandy. The judging panel gathers before the festival and evaluates the submitted samples. Awards for the highest rated distillates are then presented on the first evening of Gin & Brin festival.

The evaluation is carried out in accordance with our rulebook, which we have built with the help of our experienced judging panel and following the examples of world renowned spirit competitions. Our judging panel consists of various Slovenian experts in spirits and distillation, sommeliers, barmans and others. The registration of samples is open to every distiller and is not limited to distillers who are presenting their products on the festival. Spirit samples are rated according to a 100-point system. It is possible to participate in 7 categories: London Dry Gin, Compound Gin, Distilled Gin, Fruit Flavoured Gin, Brinjevec, Gin based Liqueur, Spirit with juniper aroma (new category from 2023).
