Gin & Brin Festival is a two-day event that being organized since 2017 by admirers of gin and brinjevec (juniper spirit) from Karst region of Slovenia.
The main purpose of this festival is expanding knowledge and culture of enjoying these two beverages, expanding knowledge of gin’s rich history and the tradition of brinjevec in our region. Nonetheless, we are also glad to give the opportunity to excellent Slovenian and foreign craft distillers that are making these two beautiful spirits, to present their products to our guests. Since 2020 we’re also organizing Gin & Brin Awards, spirits rating event where our judging comitee of various experts taste, rate and award the best junipery spirits of the year.
Every day of the event there will be 15 distillers presenting their products. This is an excellent opportunity for the guests to get to know the distillers, chat and discuss with them and maybe even discover some secrets of preparation of excellent spirits. Of course the festival is also a great opportunity to taste wide variety of products – served just as distillers imagined. You can try plain spirits or combined into cocktails with carefully chosen decoration and additions, all made by distillers’ recipes.
Festivals offers more than just tastings. There are various masterclasses and workshops, led by experts of the field where visitors are able to learn new skills of mixology and gin & tonic preparation, discover rich history of gin and familiarize themselves with many secrets of distillation processes.
Good drinks are calling for good music and on our Gin & Brin festival your ears will be satisfied. On both evenings an acoustic band accompanies us till late hours. There are also various additions in the program that make the festival even more interesting for visitors.
The festival takes place every year on the first weekend in July, at village Dutovlje. There we gather, taste, enjoy and discuss under the shade of pine trees from the afternoon until the early morning hours. We also offer visitors the possibility of free camping (with a tent or vehicle) in the immediate vicinity of the event.
